1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Forhu Inc ("Chumme", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you use the Chumme mobile application and related services (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.
For the purposes of data protection law, Forhu Inc, 30 Wall Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10005, United States, is the controller of your personal information.
2. Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, password (stored in hashed form), username and display name.
- Google Sign-In: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Profile content: your profile photo, bio, and any other details you choose to add.
- Content you create: posts, comments, messages, chat room activity, audio recordings, lyrics and collaborations ("User Content").
- Support and reports: information you send when you contact us or report content or users.
3. Information we collect automatically
- Location: only when you create a community and choose to use your current location to place it on the globe. We read your device location once, at approximate (about 100 meter) accuracy, and store the spot you confirm with the community, not on your profile. Everyone can see a community's spot on the globe. We do not track your location in the background.
- Microphone: with your permission, audio captured while you record. We only access the microphone while you are actively recording.
- Camera and photos: with your permission, images you choose to take or select, for example for your profile picture.
- Device and app information: device model, operating system, app version, language, and push notification token.
- Usage information: features you use, rooms and communities you join, and interactions such as follows, likes and plays.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data, collected through our error monitoring provider. Crash reports include your user ID so we can investigate problems with your account.
You can withdraw location, microphone, camera and notification permissions at any time in your device settings. Some features will stop working without them.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account and authenticate you;
- provide the Service — your profile, communities, globe, chat, recording and collaboration features;
- show communities on the globe at the location their creator chose;
- send notifications you have enabled;
- recommend content, rooms and people, based on your discovery preferences;
- keep the Service safe — detecting abuse, enforcing our Terms, and responding to reports;
- diagnose crashes and improve performance;
- comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not show ads in the Service.
5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the Service you signed up for;
- Consent: for location, microphone, camera and notifications, and any optional personalization — you can withdraw consent at any time;
- Legitimate interests: to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and improve the app, balanced against your rights;
- Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information by law.
6. What other users can see
- Your username, display name, profile photo and bio are visible to other users, subject to your Who can see my profile setting.
- If you create a community, the location you chose for it is visible to everyone on the globe.
- Posts, comments, recordings and room activity are visible to the people in that community, room or conversation.
- Your online or listening status is shown unless you turn off Show activity status.
- Whether you appear in search and discovery depends on Appear in discovery.
You can change these in Settings → Privacy. Content you have already shared may have been seen or saved by others.
7. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting and database;
- Google — sign-in and push notifications on Android;
- Apple — push notifications on iOS and app store services;
- Mapbox — maps and the globe;
- OpenWeatherMap — the cloud layer on the globe (it receives your IP address, not your location);
- Sentry — crash reporting and diagnostics.
- Meta (Instagram and Facebook) and TikTok, when an Instagram, Facebook or TikTok link in chat is previewed. Showing the preview loads the post from their servers, and they may collect device information such as your IP address and use cookies, under their own privacy policies.
- Other users, as described in Section 6.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect the safety of any person.
- A buyer or successor, if Chumme is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
Each provider's own privacy policy applies to its processing:

8. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and we and our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep your information
- Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active.
- User Content: until you delete it, except content shared with others, which they may keep.
- Diagnostics: up to 90 days.
- Backups: up to 30 days.
- Legal records: longer where the law requires.
When you delete your account, we immediately sign you out on all devices, deactivate the account, and remove your email address, username and password. Your display name, profile photo and the content you posted (such as posts, comments, chat messages and recordings) are not removed automatically. To have them deleted, contact aiforhu@gmail.com. Copies in our backups are erased within 30 days.
10. Information stored on your device
The app stores some information locally on your device, including your sign-in session (in secure storage), your privacy and notification preferences, and cached content. Your privacy settings are currently saved on your device only and may not be enforced on our servers.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information — use Settings → Privacy → Delete account, and contact us to delete your display name, profile photo and content;

- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent at any time;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise these rights, contact aiforhu@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by law, and may need to verify your identity first.
California residents: you have the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and secure credential storage on your device. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your login details private and tell us at aiforhu@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you in the app or by email of material changes, and update the "Last updated" date above.
